We Visit Amazing New Accommodation Site

In October our New Zealand Vacations staff member Jane and her husband Steve stayed at one of the new luxury PurePods located north of Christchurch. This is such a radical new concept we wanted to see for ourselves how it actually works so Jane volunteered to spend a night and to share her experience. She was thrilled with the experience and these are some of her observations.

Our original PurePod blog can be found HERE. We suggest you read it first.

Here's Janes personal report -

Q - What was your overall impression of the SuperPod you stayed in.

"It was absolutely fantastic and my husband, who I hadn’t told too much about PurePod, was blown away by the whole experience.  He was most impressed with the design and feel of the place. He even turned his phone off 😊…now that’s saying something.

We were very lucky with the weather. When we got there about 5.30pm there was fog out to sea and we thought we would lose our view fairly soon, however the fog drifted into another valley, so we had a beautiful sunset.

It then got a bit cloudy and we thought we wouldn’t see any stars. In fact we had gone to bed and about an hour later I noticed the clouds had disappeared there were more stars in the sky than I have ever seen.

In the morning we woke to a beautiful sunrise about 6.30'ish with some sheep and lambs around the pod. It was just surreal.

My only suggestion would be some softer pillows, but that’s just me.

On our way home we stopped at the Fossil Café and had brunch. What a great spot that is!

Q - Which PurePod did you stay at?

Jane - The Greta Valley SuperPod, a huge sheep farm with a fascinating history. 90 minutes north of Christchurch.

Q - How isolated was the PurePod you stayed in?

Jane - It took us a 20 minute drive off the main road and then a 10-15 minute walk to the PurePod. The signage was very clear

Q - Did you feel isolated ?

Jane - Yes, but in a good way"

Q - Could you see any other homes?

Jane - Only a farmhouse, miles away in a valley below

Q - Did you feel safe?

Jane - Totally

Q - Where was your PurePod located on the farm?

Jane - On a hilltop with incredible views of rolling farmlands leading down to the Pacific Ocean and in the other direction higher hills.

Q - The PurePods don't look big. Are they spacious enough?

Jane - We never felt cramped at all. The modern design makes great use of space.

Q - Would you do it again?

Jane - At the drop of a hat!

Here's an example of a New Zealand itinerary where a stay at a PurePod could be added. The 15 day North & South Island.
