West Coast South Island

Despite the winter weather from May to October there are many advantages in traveling in New Zealand at this time of the year. That's why the team at New Zealand Vacations are enjoying following our adventurers around. The wet weather is obviously not going to stop them having a great time on their self-drive tour. Read what they have to say.

"Well, our luck was not as good the last two days.  Yesterday we left Kaiteriteri in beautiful weather and by the time we got to Punakaiki it was hailing sideways.  On the plus side, we were able to see the blowholes after the tide was going out because it was so windy. We explored the Puanaiki Cavern to get out of the storm which was pretty exciting. It cleared up enough that we could take a stroll on the beach at sunset. Today we made our way to the glacier at Franz Josef.  It was another beautiful morning but a storm was rolling in at the top of the glacier when We arrived.  We still got to do the ice explorer tour though so we still got to go up on the glacier. We are definitely having a fun adventure :)"
